INTERVIEW. Critically ill Rayen (14) and mother almost too late for crucial cancer research: “Don’t take ordinary citizens hostage” | Farmers’ protest

Rayen (14) from Duffel is battling acute leukemia. Today he had his second appointment for experimental treatment, in the hospital in Utrecht. But he almost missed it due to the farmers’ protests on the Antwerp ring road. “I was devastated by the stress. We ended up being five minutes late, but fortunately they still wanted to do the tests. Am I angry with the farmers? Naturally. That they take action against the people who can do something about it,” says his mother.
