The Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is still in the construction phase, but the tenant portfolio of the shopping center is already taking on more and more concrete forms. After well-known brands such as H&M, Breuninger, Zara, Mango and JD Sports, the sports retail group Intersport also announced the opening of a branch in the major project of the real estate developer Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) last week.
Accordingly, the family company Intersport Knudsen will open an “innovative concept store” with an area of almost 2,000 square meters in Überseequartier in spring 2024. The “new, urban concept” of the planned branch will be “specifically tailored to the location” and “contain special showroom elements,” Intersport explained in a statement. The range puts “a special focus on the areas of training, running and outdoor”.
“The love of sport is our common drive in the Intersport team. With the reopening of our new flagship store, we also want to put our stamp on this 1A location for high-quality retail at the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier location: We want to set an example,” explained Knud Hansen, Managing Director of Intersport Knudsen, in a statement. “Our large investment of around two million euros enables us to implement and shape the sports retail of the future locally.” Hansen promised future customers “correspondingly exciting, new concepts and a wide range of offers and services”.
Knud Hansen has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Intersport Deutschland eG since 2013 and, according to the association, is “one of the largest Intersport dealers in Germany”. Intersport Knudsen currently operates stores in Kiel, Neumünster and Hamburg.
