Interruption after protest action in Liverpool

Liverpool (AP) – An unusual protest action has led to the brief interruption of the Premier League game between Everton FC and Newcastle United.

A man secured himself to a goal post during the second half, but it was initially unclear how he managed to do so so quickly. He was wearing a shirt that said “Just Stop Oil.” Folders and rescue workers loosened the connection with which the man had tied himself to the post by the neck.

The football game at Liverpool’s Goodison Park continued at 0-0 and was won 1-0 by FC Everton, who were outnumbered from the 83rd minute. The whistle was blown after 117 minutes.
