Childcare organizations will have longer the opportunity to deploy more professionals in training in a formative manner. However, Minister Van Gennip wants to attach a new condition to this, so that professionals in training are not given too much responsibility too quickly. That is why there must be a guidance plan to which the professional in training, the practice supervisor and the training supervisor have agreed in writing.
This requires an amendment to the Childcare Act Regulations. That is why the minister is starting an internet consultation. Interested parties can respond until March 18, 2024.
Extension of temporary measure
Since January 1, 2022, more professionals in training can be temporarily deployed at a childcare center. This option has been expanded from 33 percent to 50 percent of the formation at a childcare center. This measure was taken due to staff shortages and high workload in childcare. This measure provides more options for completing personnel planning. Minister Van Gennip wants to extend this measure until July 1, 2026.
New condition
It is important to carefully examine whether the professional in training can handle being part of a group in a formative manner. The minister is therefore introducing a new condition for the formative deployment of professionals in training. This means that there must be a guidance plan for the professional in training. The professional in training, his or her practical supervisor and his or her training supervisor must have agreed to this in writing.
