International skating competitions can also be seen at NOS in the coming years | NOW

The international skating competitions can also be seen on the NOS in the coming years. Until the 2026/2027 season, the public broadcaster has the live broadcasting rights for all European Championships, World Cups and World Cup competitions in long track speed skating and short track speed skating.

From the 2023/2024 season, the NOS also has the live rights for the European Championships and World Championships in figure skating.

“With these new agreements, we continue to beat skating as the enthusiast is used to from us,” says NOS Sportseditor-in-chief Maarten Nooter. “Now that the Netherlands is participating in figure skating again, it is good that we can also broadcast the European Championship and World Figure Skating Championships live. Ice skating is the largest winter sport in this country and therefore important for many people. That is exactly why it is broadcast on the NOS and on the open network of the public broadcaster.”

At the end of May it was already announced that the national skating championships can be seen at the NOS for the next four years. Skating association KNSB extended the contract with the public broadcaster until the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

This concerns the broadcasting rights of long track speed skating, but also marathon speed skating, short track speed skating, figure skating and inline skating. In addition to the National Championships in the five disciplines, the NOS is also allowed to broadcast the annual qualifying tournament for the World Cup competitions and the OKT (Olympic qualification tournament).
