Fans from all over the world will come to Kerkrade this weekend for the concerts – this Saturday and Sunday – by orchestra leader and violinist Guido Dieteren and his European Pop Orchestra.

After the corona crisis, he will perform this weekend in an open-air theater for more than 3,500 fans.

Reporter Tim van der Weerden went to take a look at the center of Kerkrade on Saturday afternoon during rehearsals. According to Dieteren, his fans come from all over the world: “A big bus full of Danish fans and people come from thirteen different countries, even from America and Mexico.”

New material
Despite the somewhat cooler temperatures, the orchestra leader and his orchestra are more than ready: “Yes, we have all been quiet for two years. Then you work very hard on new material and on new plans. Fortunately, the ‘ world’ us.” According to Dieteren, many people have seen videos of him and his orchestra during the corona pandemic, and they liked them very much. “People started watching videos online and we got tens of thousands of subscribers. It just goes on and on. Now I hope everything stays open, because culture is going through a hard time across the country.”
