Intermediate round: Volleyball players get mandatory World Cup victory against Thailand

Status: 05.10.2022 17:22

The German volleyball players ended their series of defeats at the World Cup in the Netherlands and Poland.

After four bankruptcies in a row, the team of national coach Vital Heynen had more problems than expected in the 3:1 (25:19, 25:22, 18:25, 25:23) against Thailand. Captain Jennifer Janiska finally turned the match point into a deserved success.

Quarterfinals a long way off

Despite the mandatory victory in group F of the intermediate round, the Germans do not have the best chances of reaching the quarter-finals. The best German attacker against Thailand was middle blocker Camilla Weitzel with 18 points.

Heynen’s team meets the Dominican Republic in the intermediate round on Friday (7 p.m.) and finally co-hosts Poland on Saturday (8.30 p.m.).
