Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (52, SPD) has spoken out in favor of the presence of the police in the facilities in the ongoing debate about violence in outdoor pools.
The rule of law must take tough action against violence, especially in public swimming pools, where there are many children and young people, said Faeser on Wednesday in Berlin. “That also means: police presence. I want to make that very clear,” says Faeser.
The minister also referred to the great importance of prevention. It must be ensured “very early” that children and young people do not become violent. “Children are never violent by themselves, they are made that way by circumstances,” Faeser said.
Specifically, possible starting points in daycare centers and schools must be looked at, and prevention of domestic violence is also important at this point.
