Italy’s soccer champions Inter Milan have won the Supercup for the fifth time. The team of coach Simone Inzaghi won the Derby d’Italia on Wednesday evening in Milan’s Giuseppe Meazza Stadium 2-1 (1-1, 1-1) after extra time against cup winners Juventus Turin and won the title again for the first time since 2010.
Alexis Sánchez scored the decisive goal shortly before the end of extra time (120 + 1).
Ex-Schalke Weston McKennie brought Juve, who were in the Supercup for the ninth time in a row, in the lead in the 25th minute.
Inter striker Lautaro Martínez equalized just ten minutes later with a penalty kick. In extra time with little chance, Sánchez took advantage of a gross mistake by Turin’s Alex Sandro, who missed the ball a few meters from his own goal.
