Inter, the recovery plan for the injured. Sticks warm up the engines

The goal at the Nerazzurri is to empty the infirmary by the end of the year to give Inzaghi back the full squad. The Italian will be the first to be available again, likely starting from the bench against Udinese

Three weeks to end the emergency. This is the time horizon set for the Nerazzurri (one day more, one day less) to empty the infirmary which has become crowded in the last month and give Inzaghi back his full squad. The instrumental tests to which De Vrij and Dumfries were subjected after the problems suffered in the match against Napoli offered a picture that is not yet definitive, but clear enough to be able to hypothesize a sort of timetable for their respective recoveries. As for the other two “patients”, Bastoni and Pavard, the countdown has now begun thanks to a smooth timetable: the first has already circled the date of December 9th, when he will return to appear among coach Inzaghi’s squad, while for the Frenchman it will take about ten days longer.

STICKS

The defender from Casalmaggiore has already recovered from the calf injury suffered during the Italian training camp a few days ago and has resumed regular training with the group starting today. After a stop of almost three weeks and a differentiated programme, Inzaghi’s left arm is taking care of his athletic side and, as announced by the person concerned on Monday evening, he will be eligible again for Saturday’s match against Udinese. Considering the only three days of full work up until then, it is easy to imagine his departure from the bench to perhaps enter in the last half hour and regain his starting place three days later against Real Sociedad. In any case, Bastoni can be definitively removed from the injured list, news that cheers up Inzaghi as he deals with half the defense in plaster.

PAVARD

After Bastoni, it won’t take long to see the Frenchman again. Because, once the brace was removed, the former Bayern player has already started running again. Still without forcing, but without feeling any pain or discomfort in that kneecap dislocated last November 5th. Given the nature of the injury and the area affected, the Nerazzurri medical staff preferred to tread carefully, but Pavard’s knee reacted better than expected, to the point of hypothesizing a small acceleration in the expected return times. Nothing certain yet, we would miss him, because everything will depend on the re-athleticisation phase which began about a week ago. But the hope is that Pavard can be available again as early as December 17th against Lazio, or at most a week later against Lecce. In any case, barring unforeseen circumstances, we will certainly see him again in camp by the end of the year.

DE VRIJ AND DUMFRIES

More will be known about the two Dutchmen next week, when they will undergo new instrumental tests to evaluate the evolution of the muscular problems suffered on Sunday evening. The strain on the adductor of the left leg complained of by De Vrij initially seemed more serious than that suffered by Dumfries on the flexor of the left thigh, but the extent of the problem will only be better assessed in a few days. At the moment, a stop of about twenty days is conceivable for both of them, necessary both to absorb the injury and to recover their shape. Both will have a week of rest and physiotherapy sessions, then (barring unforeseen circumstances) gradual recovery with personalized sessions. The hope is to be able to see both back in action on December 29th against Genoa for the last official match of the year, but a realistic estimate can only be made in a few days.
