The 19-time Italian football champions Inter Milan capitalized on Juventus’ mistake and took the lead in Serie A on matchday 22.
At AC Florence, Inter won 1-0 (1-0) thanks to a goal from Argentine world champion Lautaro Martinez and is now one point ahead of record champions Juve, who have already played one more game. Yann-Aurel Bisseck came on as a substitute for Inter in the final stages.
Turin only managed a 1-1 (0-0) draw against penultimate FC Empoli on Saturday, but the record champions had to play outnumbered for around 75 minutes after being sent off early. Third in the table, Inter’s city rivals AC, also made a mistake in a 2-2 (1-1) draw against FC Bologna.
In the fight for access to the Champions League ranks, Lazio Rome and champions SSC Napoli played out a goalless draw on Sunday. Lazio, Bayern Munich’s opponent in the round of 16 in the premier class, is sixth in the table, Napoli is only ninth.
