Team rest until Monday, but the Croatian and Dutch will still work in the gym to recover from their respective injuries. Full group between Wednesday and Thursday, after the return of the South Americans
At the Nerazzurri home, the weekly agenda takes shape in view of next Sunday’s super-match against Juventus. For Inzaghi and the medical staff, the injury situation needs to be assessed, with Brozovic and De Vrij called to a supplement of work in the gym, but news are also expected from Lautaro and Vecino, both struggling with Covid. The only certainty, at the moment, concerns the resumption of training set for Tuesday. The veterans from the commitments with the national teams will return to Appiano Gentile between Wednesday and Thursday: the first to return will be the Europeans, then it will be the turn of the South Americans Sanchez, Vidal, Vecino and Correa. Barring unforeseen circumstances, Inzaghi will be able to work with the full team for three days before challenging the bianconeri.
Injured and positive
–
Inzaghi has granted everyone three days of freedom starting today, but both Brozovic and De Vrij will continue to work in Appiano. The Croatian and the Dutch have yet to work off their calf injuries, so they will have daily physiotherapy sessions in the hope of being able to resume group training on Tuesday. The Nerazzurri medical staff have confidence in both of them, because the injuries encountered would be almost completely absorbed. Between the two, the one who seems closest to returning is Brozovic, but there is also optimism for the Dutchman. The same optimism that Inzaghi has regarding the two blocked by Covid, namely Lautaro and Vecino: the Argentine, who continued to train individually as he is asymptomatic, is ready to return to Appiano at the first negative swab (a new test will presumably come made between tomorrow and Monday), while the Uruguayan will have to face the return trip from Uruguay, where he had gone to respond to the call-up to the national team.
The returns
–
The question of returns concerns a large group, but Inzaghi will be able to hug everyone again at the latest on Thursday. If training resumes on Tuesday for those who remained in Italy, the next day it will also be the turn of Skriniar, Dzeko, Dumfries, Barella, Bastoni and Calhanoglu. Twenty-four hours later it will be the turn of the South Americans, engaged in the night between Tuesday and Wednesday for the last day of Eliminatorias to Qatar 2022. Basically, before the match against Juve, Inzaghi will be able to direct at least three training sessions in full ranks in addition to the finishing touch on Sunday morning. The hope is that at least those nationals engaged exclusively in friendly matches (practically all Europeans) will be able to return to Appiano without an excessive load of minutes on their legs.
