Italy’s football champions Inter Milan have missed the leap to the top of the table. The Nerazzurri lost 2-0 (0-2) at home to US Sassuolo Calcio on Matchday 26 and, after their second home defeat in a row, are now two points behind AC Milan with 54 points.
The city rival had only played 2: 2 (1: 1) at bottom US Salernitana the day before. Inter, who lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 first leg during the week, have only won once in their last five Serie A games.
Giacomo Raspadori (8th) and Gianluca Scamacca (26th) scored for the defending champion’s third defeat of the season. International player Robin Gosens (muscle injury), who was signed in January, is still not available to Inter.
