The biggest transfer thriller on Deadline Day still found a positive ending afterwards. As FC Barcelona officially announced on Wednesday, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is moving from Arsenal to the Catalans with immediate effect. The former BVB striker has been given a contract until June 2025, which includes an option for an early move in the summer of 2023. In addition, an exit clause of 100 million euros was set, as the club announced.
According to reports, a fee will not be due – recently it was said that the “Gunners” were happy to get Aubameyang completely off the payroll. the times wrote that Arsenal had to pay his ex-captain nearly £7million to end his lucrative £350,000-a-week contract.
The cash-strapped Catalans were no longer able to create additional financial leeway due to the hoped-for but ultimately failed departure of winger Ousmane Dembélé (24).
With his move to the Blaugranas, Gabonese Aubameyang has the opportunity to be under contract with a club in the fifth European top division. Aubameyang was previously allowed to try his hand at Italy (AC Milan, without playing for the professionals), France (Saint-Étienne, Monaco and Lille), Germany (BVB) and England (Arsenal) in his career.
