The Tuinland family business was founded in 1919 and started as a plant nursery and seed trader in Assen. Founder Girbe Drenth eventually handed over the business to his son Henk. It started in 1968 with the predecessor of the current garden centre. In the meantime, Tuinland has grown into a multi-million dollar company with 350 employees. Tuinland has four branches in Assen, Groningen, Zwolle and Wilp. The company is still run by the Drenth family.
