Inspection certificate will soon also be checked: “Privacy of Flemish people is threatened by additional applications of ANPR cameras”

The fact that the Flemish Tax Authorities (Vlabel) will soon be able to use ANPR cameras – cameras with automatic license plate recognition – to check who has a valid car inspection certificate and who does not, is going a step too far for Flemish MP Maurits Vande Reyde. He advocates a stop to the use of additional ANPR applications. These new applications “erode the privacy of Flemish people,” says Vande Reyde.
