Jeffry Mille is one of the photographers participating in the exhibition. He had a serious accident in March 1995 and suffered a brain injury. He suffers the consequences of this every day, even if you don’t always see it. Jeffry Mille: “Sometimes I say something wrong. Some people you don’t know well say: what is he saying? Other people have to laugh at it.”
Complaints not always visible
But it’s no laughing matter. The exhibition wants to make this clear: the daily life of people with an acquired brain injury is not always easy. Their complaints are not always visible, and that sometimes leads to misunderstanding. Charlotte Schepens, doctor of Physical Medicine AZ Delta: “We see that it is not easy for many patients to return to society. They say: my family doesn’t see anything wrong with me. But they have a more difficult time solving matters. They have memory problems that may be present. For some this is greater than for others. But there needs to be much more recognition in society.”
