Insider classifies explosive transfer rumors surrounding Thomas Müller

From January 1, 2024, Thomas Müller will officially be allowed to negotiate with other clubs in view of his expiring contract with FC Bayern. Manchester United is said to be interested. An insider now comments on the truth of the rumors.

“We can say that Manchester United is not actively courting Müller at the moment. That is not an issue, neither for the winter nor for the coming summer,” said transfer expert Florian Plettenberg on “Sky”. The journalist made it clear that United only “thought about Müller” last summer, but there were no concrete negotiations.

Müller is also “not planning on a change within the Bundesliga,” said Plettenberg. Instead, the reporter explained that another one-year extension at FC Bayern is likely, “if an agreement is reached – and that’s what everyone involved wants.”

However, Plettenberg confirmed that there were currently no concrete discussions between the German record champions and Müller.

“Sport Bild” also recently reported on United’s past interest in the 2014 world champion and reported that a possible offer from the Premier League club could give Müller pause, as could an offer from the Bundesliga. There should also be interest from the North American MLS and from Saudi Arabia.

Thomas Müller no longer plays at FC Bayern

The extension at FC Bayern was not a sure-fire success, especially because of Müller’s high salary of allegedly more than 20 million euros a year, it was said.

The 34-year-old is no longer selected under coach Thomas Tuchel. Müller has only played 485 minutes in 14 competitive games so far in 2023/2024. He has at least two goals and five assists to his name.

Müller recently confirmed that his career would not end in the summer. “I definitely want to play for another year beyond 2024. At least that’s my plan,” he told “Sport Bild”. “I’m still having fun being on the pitch – I hope that shows.”
