Insane world record was already on Suzanne Schulting’s shoes | Olympics

“It’s very nice that I have it now. Last year after the World Cup I had 1.26.5 put on the back of my shoe. I was already very close then,” says Schulting. “Now I had new shoes and had it put on again. I still wanted that 1.26.5. I’m wearing them here for the first time. I doubted whether that time had to go up again, but I did it anyway.”

When Schulting looked up after her quarterfinals, there was what she was looking for: 1.26.514. “I thought: ‘holy shit’, this is sick. Literally the same time I have on my shoes.” The short-track queen realized she had to stay sharp. An hour later she went crazy after her triumph.

During the 1500 meters she felt strong again. Due to a clumsy action by Yutong Han, there was no more than bronze. It was not the form of Schulting. “In the final of the 1500 meters I felt even better than during the 1000 meters.”
