“It’s nice to come into a club like this”, Sven Mijnans says quite calmly about his two goals. The winter acquisition has only been employed by AZ for two weeks, but immediately shows that he is of value. “The second goal from me was super ugly and the first one was a bit lucky.”
“Eager to learn”
Where Mijnans is quite modest about his goals, the AZ fans were very excited about the game their team showed. AZ had no pity at all for opponent Excelsior. Certainly not in the first half, when Pascal Jansen’s team scored five times in a period of twenty minutes. Mijnans was very important for this big victory with two hits and good play. “He’s very eager to learn.”

In the first half of the season, Mijnans stood out at Sparta. He scored three goals and provided five assists. Now in his second game for AZ, Mijnans has already found the net twice. The 22-year-old midfielder therefore seems to adapt easily to a higher level. “I just think this game suits me very much, that’s why I’m so happy with AZ.”

“It is very professional here”, Mijnans looks back on his first weeks in Alkmaar. “It’s very hard work and always trying to develop yourself. And that’s what I was looking for.” After the 5-0 win against Excelsior, Mijnans was also voted ‘man of the match’.
