Innovation Lab: the think tank that seeks to make sustainability visible in fashion and beauty

Marie Claire presented her “Innovation Lab” event at the SLS Hotel in Puerto Madero. There, a think tank focused on a topic of great relevance was established: sustainability in the beauty and fashion industries. With more than 100 guests, the talk managed to position the theme in different sectors of the Latin American industry.

This global effort by Marie Claire aims to discuss, analyze and understand the role of innovation in the sustainable field, addressing various areas that include design, fashion and beauty. The first edition took place in 2022 in France, extending this year to the United States and Great Britain, and now it is coming to our country for the first time thanks to the support of brands with a sustainable approach such as Natura, L’Oreál, adidas, Adolfo Domínguez, Authentic Beauty Concept and Karün Eyewear.

Guided by her deep-rooted commitment to preserving the planet, conscious fashion, eco-beauty, and responsible consumption, Marie Claire convened an unprecedented meeting at the SLS Hotel. During that day, a summit was held where prominent exponents of various areas related to sustainability will share their perspectives before an audience of special guests, influencers and unconditional readers.

This meeting sought to explore the challenges posed by the future of the beauty and fashion industries in terms of sustainability. María Laura Gutiérrez, biologist and researcher at Conicetadded a crucial scientific dimension to the dialogue, providing solid data and insights on environmental challenges and the importance of addressing them holistically. During the second and final panel discussion, the exciting topic “Redefining the future of the fashion industry” was explored. Paulina Tapia, Karün Eyewear Communicator, contributed her experience and vision on how fashion can embrace sustainability and ethics in its approach. Her participation shed light on how brands can incorporate responsible practices at each stage of its value chain, from production to consumption.

Alejandra Gougy, Director of AMSOAR (Association of Sustainable Fashion in Argentina) and designer for Cosecha Vintage, shared her perspective on promoting sustainable fashion in Argentina. Mauro Pesoa, designer and creator of Mauro Pesoa de Autor Oficio Ancestralenriched the conversation with her experience in creating purposeful and ethical fashion.
