‘Innocent aubergines’ disguise hundreds of cannabis plants

The fact that a cannabis plantation can be located in the craziest places was recently shown again in Kudelstaart. The police found a 300 square meter cannabis plantation behind an aubergine farm.

Officers notice that the driver of a van on the site where the nursery is located is exhibiting strange behavior. He turns out to be carrying items that are used to grow hemp. The agents decide to take a look at the greenhouse where he works. At first sight, according to their observation, ‘innocent aubergines’ are grown there.

‘Just in time’

A thorough search of the building leads the officers to an entrance door to a large, shielded part of the greenhouse. “After moving some boxes and pallets, another space emerged: a 300 square meter hemp plantation,” police said of the discovery.

There are hundreds of freshly harvested plants in the room. Police believe they made the discovery just in time. “The room was full of sacks and buckets with clipped tops, which were almost ready for the illegal market,” they say.

The driver of the van was arrested along with three of his colleagues. All the hemp has been seized and is being destroyed by the police. The municipality has closed the building for three months.
