Inline skater Marijke Groenewoud wins in the former De Langelegte in Veendam during the Marathon Cup. Robert Post from Groningen second in the men’s category

Inkineskaters Marijke Groenewoud and Casper de Gier became the winners of the fifth Reggeborgh Marathon Cup in Veendam.

In the men’s race, Capser de Gier, Robert Post from the city of Groningen and Homme Jan de Groot were the strongest. They eventually sprinted for victory. In addition, De Gier was slightly faster for Team Reggeborgh in the final sprint than Post van Jumbo-Visma. De Groot was behind that third.

Friezin Marijke Groenewoud, multiple world champion mass start on ice, was superior among the women. She won by more than a minute. This puts her even more firmly in the lead of the Reggeborgh Marathon Cup standings. Her teammate from Albert Heijn Zaanlander, Dutch champion Elisa Dul from Gelderland, sprinted to second place. Beau Wagemaker from North Holland ended up on the podium as number three.

Competition is held at a special location

The match was in a special location. This was held on the cycling course along and in the stadium of the former football club sc Veendam. The stadium has been renamed from De Langeleegte to the Henk Nienhuis Stadium since 2018.
