Handball Bundesliga team SG Flensburg-Handewitt will have to do without backcourt player Simon Pytlick for several weeks.
The SG medical department diagnosed a “partial rupture of the syndesmosis in the ankle joint”. The 22-year-old Dane does not need surgery.
“We assume that Simon will no longer be used in the first half of the season,” said Flensburg managing director Holger Glandorf about the top performer.
Pytlick was injured in Saturday’s 27:22 away win against HC Erlangen when Erlangen’s Antonio Metzner landed unhappily in the legs of the Danish 2023 world champion. Pytlick then reported “several cracking noises,” according to the press release.
SG Flensburg-Handewitt is currently in fourth place in the handball Bundesliga with six wins from ten games.
