Borussia Dortmund will have to do without striker Youssoufa Moukoko in the coming weeks.
The attacker suffered a tear in the syndesmosis and could therefore be out until Easter. “We expect a six-week break. It’s bitter for Youssoufa and it’s bitter for us,” said BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl on Monday.
The national player is sure to miss the Champions League games against Chelsea next Wednesday and March 7th. A nomination for the national team’s first international matches of the year on March 25 against Peru and three days later against Belgium is also unlikely.
Moukoko picked up the injury on Saturday in the 2-0 win at Werder Bremen. The striker was fouled after about 25 minutes by former Dortmund player Leonardo Bittencourt and later had to be replaced. The diagnosis was made on Monday after a detailed examination. In March 2021 he even tore his syndesmosis and was out for three months.
