Violent storms have caused injuries and damage in northwestern Italy.
An elderly couple has been hit by a fallen tree near Milan. They were both injured, the man is in serious condition, according to the ANSA news agency. Just outside Milan, a farmer was hit by two trees that were blown over by the wind.
Fallen trees damaged parked cars in the regions of Lombardy and Piedmont. Parks and squares were temporarily closed. In Milan the roof of the station was damaged, in the province of Varese part of the roof of a school was blown away.
The fire brigade in Italy received more than 400 calls, mainly in Lombardy.
The Civil Defense warns that the storm could last until Tuesday.
