According to a local resident, the two injured in the stabbing in Annen are neighbours. They’d been arguing for years. A 52-year-old woman from Annen was arrested for attempted manslaughter, and a 59-year-old man from Annen was arrested for attempted assault and for intentionally inflicting pain and injury. “He has seven stab wounds, five of which are in the back.”

Kees Hummelen, the ‘most cited chemist in Groningen’, was made a Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion on Thursday. The professor of Chemistry of molecular (bio)organic materials at the University of Groningen was given the decorations during his farewell symposium.
