Unfortunately, books with anti-Semitic content are still available. Today, as people increasingly purchase products through web shops and online platforms, a new approach is needed to counteract the online sale of anti-Semitic content.

The National Coordinator for Combating Anti-Semitism (NCAB) is therefore starting an initiative for a better and more efficient approach by web shops and online platforms to ban anti-Semitic content from their range. Bol.com is a partner in the initiative and has published its vision and method to counter discriminatory articles, such as anti-Semitic books, online. The NCAB and bol.com want to interest companies that encounter similar issues in exchanging knowledge and experiences and jointly developing effective action plans.

The NCAB will ask other webshops and online platforms that operate in the Netherlands to share their vision and working methods and will organize a meeting between representatives of these parties in early 2023 to exchange their experiences and best practices. All this in order to arrive at a faster and more direct way to ban anti-Semitic content from webshops and online platforms.

NCAB . response

“Unfortunately, books with anti-Semitic content are still available. This initiative is helping to stop the sale of these hateful products on the internet. We encourage other webshops and online platforms to participate in our initiative.”

Comment bol.com

Bol.com is the store of all of us. This means that everyone should be able to go to bol.com and feel welcome. At the same time, the platform wants to handle freedom of expression with care and thus also support the educational and historical importance of books. Bol.com is therefore happy to be a partner in the NCAB initiative and to combat the online sale of books with anti-Semitic content.
