Ingolstadt is becoming Munich’s feared opponent

Third duel, third victory: Vice champions ERC Ingolstadt have once again won the next meeting with champions Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

At the start of the 27th matchday, coach Mark French’s team won the Upper Bavaria derby 2-1 (0-0, 1-1, 1-0), at the beginning of October (2-0) and in mid-November (5 :3) the people of Ingolstadt had the upper hand.

In the new edition of the previous season’s final series, Jan Nijenhuis (21st) and Marko Friedrich (51st) scored for the hosts, who, thanks to their third success in the last four league games, moved up to sixth place in the table with 43 points – two points behind the fourth-placed team Munich.

For the EHC, however, it was the second bankruptcy in a row. The interim equalizer by Nicolas Krämmer (32nd) wasn’t enough to take something worthwhile away from Ingolstadt on the anniversary of the 800th DEL game in the club’s history.
