Hansa Rostock remained undefeated in the second game under the new coach Patrick Glöckner. The Mecklenburgers prevailed 1-0 (0-0) in the second division north duel at Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday evening.
Match winner for Hansa was Svante Ingelsson, who scored the only goal in an otherwise poor football game. With the win, the Rostockers climbed to ninth place in the table and now have a five-point buffer to the relegation zone.
For Braunschweig, who have not won for four games, it remains tight in 13th place. They are only two points ahead in 16th place. After the World Cup and winter break, the BTSV has a terrific program to start with – opponents are the top 3 in the league: HSV, Heidenheim and Darmstadt. Goalkeeper Jasmin Fejzic is still optimistic: “Considering what a start we made, we came back brilliantly. We can definitely build on that.”
Fejzic back in the Brunswick goal
While there was only one change at BTSV compared to the game in Regensburg (1:1) – regular keeper Jasmin Fejzic returned to the goal – Hansa Rostock’s coach Patrick Glöckner changed several times: Among other things, Nils Fröling was in the starting XI, the Swede had lost 1 :1 saved the point against Nuremberg with his joker goal in added time.
BTSV more powerful, Hansa only convinces on the defensive
The home side played powerfully, but Hansa’s good defensive didn’t allow much. It became dangerous for the first time in the 13th minute when Jannis Nikolaou suddenly found himself free at the penalty spot, but chased the ball well over the goal. Anton Donkor didn’t hit the ball properly in a promising position either and shot wide of the Rostock goal (20′).
Lion Lauberbach missed Braunschweig’s third opportunity after a counterattack, Damian Roßbach blocked the BTSV attacker’s shot (40′). As good as Hansa’s defense was, the team from the Baltic Sea presented themselves as weak on the offensive. In the entire first round there wasn’t a single noteworthy chance for the Rostock team.
Ingelsson scores for Hansa Rostock
It looked completely different after the restart, Hansa developed more offensive spirit – and promptly there was a goal threat in front of Fejzic’s goal. John Verhoek sailed through from under a cross (51′), Haris Duljevic shot just wide of the right post (53′). And shortly afterwards the ball actually landed in the Braunschweig goal: a deflected cross from Duljevic threw Ingelsson into the net to guide the visitors (60th).
The “Lions” were looking for an answer, but Hansa keeper Markus Kolke had something against it and safely grabbed headers from Anthony Ujah (69th) and Filip Benkovic (77th). But that was all the Braunschweig side got out of it, so the guests were able to celebrate the away win thanks to Ingelsson’s “lucky punch”.
