Norway’s miracle runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen has successfully defended his world championship title over 5000 m and returns home from Budapest with at least one gold.
The exceptional runner won on Sunday at the end of the World Championships in 13:11.30 minutes ahead of Vice European Champion Mohamed Katir from Spain (13:11.14). Bronze went to Kenyan Jacob Krop (13:12,28).
During the week Ingebrigtsen again missed the triumph over the 1500 m distance and thus left a gap in his title collection. When Brit Josh Kerr won, the only 22-year-old Olympic champion had to settle for silver.
Sam Parsons, the only German starter over 5000 m, had fallen in the heat and had missed the entry into the final.
