Baker ready? Bake it! That’s how presenter André van Duin starts every Heel Holland Bakt show. Inge Sikkens (60) from Roden bakes a cake with us – at home in her kitchen – to look back on her participation in the program.
“I’m going to make a Victorian sponge cake,” she says enthusiastically. We give her an hour and a half. “An hour and a half!?” she yells. “Well, first put on my apron.”
“It was one of the best experiences of my life,” she says, stirring a mixing bowl. “Especially the interaction with the group. I think something like this always binds: you have a common goal, which is baking. It’s fun, and you are always happy that you passed.”
In episode 5, Sikkens flew out this year, because she burned a cake. Saturday evening was the final of the program. She watched it with a group of participants, at home, on the couch with winner Enzo. “It was a lot of fun. We really had a party. And it was his moment.” Was he a deserved winner? “Yes I think so.” But if the other two had won, Sikkens wouldn’t have thought it strange at all.
