ING does not want to say how many customers the costs have been incorrectly debited. Since Friday, complaints have surfaced on various forums from consumers from whom amounts have been debited, sometimes even several days in a row. This usually involves amounts of €6, but on the website allestoringen.nl customers also complain that it concerns almost €1000: “Can’t do any shopping anymore. I’m red right now!”
An ING spokesperson confirmed that the problem of incorrect debits started on Friday. “We are working hard to rectify the incorrect cost entries. In the coming days, no later than next Thursday, we will reimburse the affected customers for these costs. Of course we find this situation very annoying and we offer our apologies.”
When asked whether customers who are overdrawn will get their money back faster, ING states that it is trying ‘to help everyone as quickly as possible’.
