ING is one of the most popular direct banks in Germany, partly because of its online banking. However, customers must now reckon with a temporary suspension of the service for update reasons.
ING’s concept for success is based, among other things, on the fact that it has fully focused on online business. In contrast to Sparkasse or comparable companies, ING does not have a large branch network. In return, you get access to many online services or the extensively equipped app. Due to maintenance work for precisely these offers, ING customers must expect short-term restrictions.
Current maintenance work of the ING
ING itself indicatesthat it normally rolls out three major updates a year, so-called business releases. These sometimes involve major interventions in the bank systems and the backend of ING. It is therefore necessary at times to take the company’s online service offerings offline. One of these updates is now imminent.
From the March 24th to 25th the services offered are maintained. Between 11 p.m. on Friday and probably 2 p.m. on Saturday ING announces that customers must therefore expect restrictions. This is necessary to put the technology to the test and to integrate new functions.
The current update is probably about changing the look of Internet banking. Among other things, the menu bar should be adjusted. On the one hand to improve clarity, on the other hand to make the whole thing more eye-friendly. In addition, with the update it should be possible in the future to personalize your own area at ING more.
ING customers should keep this in mind during maintenance
The update process usually starts overnight so that customers are exposed to as few restrictions as possible. However, it is somewhat unusual that the maintenance at ING now lasts until Saturday morning.
Attention: During the maintenance window mentioned, neither internet banking nor banking via app are available. So if you need to make urgent transfers, you should do so beforehand. Since Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not bank working days anyway, this should not be too important. In addition, ING explicitly points out that it will also be possible to pay by smartphone or card during the maintenance.
