Infinited Fiber Company builds new factory for 400 million euros

The Infinited Fiber Company is planning a new, large-scale factory in the Finnish part of Lapland. The company is investing around 400 million euros for this, the Finnish textile innovator announced.

Infinited Fiber Company is a textile company that converts cotton-rich textile waste into new cotton-like quality fibers called Infinna. When the plant is fully operational in 2025, it will be able to produce thirty thousand tons of fiber material annually. That’s equivalent to the amount of fiber needed to make about 100 million T-shirts, reports Infinited Fiber Company. This also requires additional human resources: In total, Infinited Fiber Company will create around 270 jobs through the construction of the factory.

The factory will be built on the site of a former paper mill in the Finnish town of Kemi that closed last year. The paper mill is converted into a production line for Infinna fibers. Several factors played a role in the choice of location, including “the excellent existing infrastructure, the supply of fresh water, renewable electricity, efficient port services and a skilled local workforce”.

Infinited Fiber Company is already working with international fashion companies such as Inditex, Patagonia, Pangaia, H&M Group, Bestseller and the European arm of PVH Corp. together. Infinited Fiber Company has entered into multi-year fiber purchase agreements with most of these companies. The company therefore assumes that most of the fibers produced in Finland will ultimately be exported.
