MUNICH/OTTAWA (dpa-AFX) – The Munich chip manufacturer Infineon says it has completed the takeover of the Canadian Gan Systems Inc. Both companies had already announced the purchase in March for a price of 830 million dollars (781.6 million euros). Gan Systems is a manufacturer of high-performance semiconductor elements made from gallium nitride.
The Ottawa-based company brings a broad portfolio of energy conversion solutions as well as first-class application know-how in power semiconductors. All necessary official approvals have been granted.
The Gan technology paves the way for even more efficient and therefore CO2-saving solutions, said Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon./dm/DP/ngu
