Inez Weski will be detained longer, ‘stops defending Taghi’

Lawyer Inez Weski will remain in custody for two weeks longer. This was decided by the examining magistrate of the court in Rotterdam on Monday. The 68-year-old Weski assists main suspect Ridouan Taghi in the Marengo liquidation process. She was arrested Friday. According to the AD, she puts down Taghi’s defense.

Weski is suspected of participating in an international gang involved in international drug trafficking and money laundering. She would also have violated secrets.

Weski was arrested after an investigation into her role in the passing on of information by Taghi from the Extra Secure Institution (EBI). Weski would have been used as a conduit.

According to the AD Weski also stops defending Ridouan Taghi. That would have been announced by her lawyers. It is not yet known who will succeed her.

Youssef Taghi
Earlier, former lawyer Youssef Taghi was arrested and convicted for helping his cousin Ridouan Taghi escape from the EBI in Vught. The court in Amsterdam imposed a prison sentence of 5.5 years on him.

Youssef’s counsel mr. Andre Seebregts suggested during the trial that his client was not the only one who acted as a conduit. He was referring to Taghi’s lawyer Weski.

Part of the House of Representatives believes that communication from the Extra Secure Institution (EBI) in Vught should be further restricted.
