The 39th European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics will start in Azerbaijan on May 17th. SWR Sport will broadcast the finals of the individual devices live on Sunday, May 21 from 10 a.m.
Hopes rest on Margarita Kolosov and Darja Varfolomeev in the individual apparatus finals of the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku.
Both gymnasts from the federal base in Fellbach-Schmiden have recently shown great performances in the World Cup competitions. Kolosov won the final with clubs in Greece. Darja Varfolomeev provided historic medals at the last European Championships. The then 15-year-old student won bronze in the club final and in the ball final, Germany’s first gymnastics medal in more than four decades. At the World Championships, Varfolomeev won the full set of medals: gold with clubs, silver with ball, and bronze with hoop and all-around.
