The first set is dominated by Bronzetti, who, despite a lost turn of serve in the third game, is good at reacting and taking control of the match, scoring three breaks: in the second, fourth and eighth game. In the opposite half of the court, Frech appears to be in great difficulty for the entire period, more specifically in the management of baseline rallies, as well as with the serve, from which he gets just 10 points out of a total of 23 (43%) and scores 50% of points won with the first and 36% with the second. In short, a disastrous performance and part of the reason why the partial was resolved in 36 minutes in favor of the Italian with a score of 6-2. In a second set with a different flavor and rhythm, the two challengers regularly alternate serving. The first to break the balance, however, is still Bronzetti, who in the tenth game scores the break which coincides with the end of the match, closed by Frech in the worst possible way: that is, with a double fault.

For the Italian n.100 WTA it will be the third consecutive match in the California desert, as she comes from the qualifiers. To access the main draw “Sarita” had to eliminate the Serbian Aleksandra Krunic (7-5 6-1) and the Australian Arina Rodionova (6-4 6-0). It will be the second match between Errani and Osaka in her career, with the only previous match taking place in 2016 in Miami, where the former world no.1 made the difference with a score of 6-1 6-3.
