Ladies first – that’s the motto until the weekend at the golf and country club on Lake Seddin, just outside of Berlin. The Amundi German Masters is taking place here for the second time. Until Sunday, 129 women will be fighting for victory in the only tournament on the Ladies European Tour in Germany.

And right on the first day there was a small sensation: The only 17-year-old Indian Avani Prashanth hit an “albatross” on the 13th hole. Means: Avani has directly holed with only two strokes for a hole where 5 strokes are actually required (a par 5 hole).

Prashanth, who is still an amateur and plays with Invite (by invitation) happily: “I didn’t know which iron to do it with at first and used a five on the second shot. I couldn’t see the ball falling straight into the hole. Only when the spectators have all clapped and cheered. That was a 197-yard shot.”

197 yards, that’s about 180 meters. Crazy!

For this great hole, three under par, the Indian should actually have a great rosé wine from the winery (Miraval Provence) of actor and hobby winemaker Brad Pitt, but since the player is still underage, she improvises charmingly. The main sponsor Amundi donates a nice gift basket with natural cosmetics and perfume.

The young Indian arrives in Germany for the first time: “I’m overjoyed to be here, I can learn so much from all the pros here. I hope I can still see a little of Berlin here, I haven’t gotten to it yet, but I really like the place here.”
