Mode Unie and Unizo conducted a survey among independent traders in the fashion sector. This shows the lower sales and traders point to the milder weather. Because really cold weather did not materialize, fewer winter clothes were sold. Consumers postponed the purchase of winter clothing such as jackets and boots and made fewer impulse purchases.
Nevertheless, the recent cold shot provides optimism at the start of the winter sales, this Saturday. Almost three in four traders expect the same or even better sales sales than last year, with starting discounts of around thirty percent.
