“Incredibly cool” – German mixed judo team wins bronze

Medal for the Olympic premiere: The German judo team won bronze in the mixed competition, which was held for the first time. In the decisive duel against the Netherlands, however, it was extremely close in the judo temple of Nippon Budokan.

The German judokas took third place at the Olympic premiere of the mixed team competition in Tokyo. The selection of the German Judo Federation (DJB) won the fight for bronze in the legendary martial arts hall Nippon Budokan in Tokyo against the Netherlands 4:2.

Dominic Ressel, Anna-Maria Wagner, Theresa Stoll and Sebastian Seidl got the necessary points for the medal coup. “Today we had the spirit that we need to be bombproof. We showed what we’re capable of,” said Seidl on ARD.

Ressel was also euphoric: “It feels incredibly cool. It wasn’t just the six of us who got the medal, but the whole team. It’s a team success and we’re celebrating that too.”

Previously, there had been a resounding 4-0 opening win over the International Olympic Committee (IOC) refugee team, a 4-2 quarter-final defeat by hosts Japan and a 4-2 win over Mongolia.
