Increasingly busy traffic on Flemish bicycle paths: from now on bicycle paths must be two meters wide in each direction of travel

Cycle paths along Flemish roads must now be at least two meters wide in each direction of travel. This is stated in new, non-binding quality guidelines for bicycle paths, writes Het Nieuwsblad. For the first time since 2005, the Flemish government is adapting the recommendations regarding new bicycle infrastructure to the increased bicycle traffic and the increasingly popular speed pedelecs and cargo bikes, Flemish Minister of Mobility Lydia Peeters (Open Vld) announced earlier this week.
