In the years before 2027, the earth could be 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer for at least a year than it was before the industrial age. The chance of this is 48 percent, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has calculated in an annual climate update. This shows that the probability of exceedance is increasing. In the previous five years, there was a 10 percent chance that one of those years would reach the 1.5-degree mark.
