The health effects of PFAS are still unclear, but experts warn about the accumulation of these substances.
Andries Neirynck, party leader in the provincial council for Groen says: “This decision of the provincial government is incomprehensible. They have to intend to the health of the West Fleming on economic pressure. Now they are putting the head in the sand, despite the big words in the provincial council.”
Groen Diksmuide pulls the resistance against this. “We will continue to sue that until there is a change. And we are not alone, because the water group, but also the kayak and swimming clubs around the pollution source, complained this decision. Broad indignation is about this, people are delivered,” said Elk Maertens of Groen Diksmuide.
In the Flemish Parliament, Groen will also submit a proposal to allow the Flemish PFAS standards to apply to the West-Flemish water quality.
