Incentives for hiring women, what changes in 2024

Dopen discussions on 2024 hiring incentives: between measures ending, some confirmations and the arrival of new aid, what is happening in the world of work? The NEET bonus and the incentive provided for the employment of young people under 36 are coming to an end, although not completely. And as regards the incentives regarding the hiring of women, something remains, but there is a return to the past.

Gen Z and work, a fluid relationship

Incentives for hiring women: what changes

Let’s start from the beginning, that is, from how it was until December 31, 2023: as reported by the Sole 24Orelaw 92 of 2012 has facilitated hiring carried out from 1 January 2013 to workers aged at least 50, both men and women, unemployed for 12 months. The provision provides the recognition of a relief of 50% of the contributions owed by the employer for a period of 12 months in the case of a fixed-term hire, and 18 months in the case of a permanent hire.

Measures for hiring disadvantaged women

The the same incentive applies to the hiring of disadvantaged women, for example long-term unemployed. What happened, however, that the 2022 budget law had raised the contribution relief to 100%up to a maximum of 6 thousand euros per year and that of 2023 had extended it. From 2024, however, the “increased” incentive ceases and we therefore return to the original measure of the relief, 50% of the contributions due.

The bonus for young people

Another measure it is the incentive provided for the employment of young people under 36. The 2024 budget law no longer extended the contribution exemption on new permanent hires and on the stabilization of fixed-term contracts of young people who have not turned 36 years of age. In reality, however, the end of this benefit is not total.

The exemption in the first version was worth 100% of contributions for 36 months and for 48 months for hires in the South. The incentive was recognized only if the person being hired had never been employed with a permanent employment contract during his working life. The benefit, however, is not canceled completely, but the structural version of the bonus for hiring young people remains in force. That is, the incentive remains aimed at those who hire children under 30 who have never previously been employed on a stable basis. But the aid consists of an exemption of 50% of the employer’s contribution for 36 monthswithin the maximum annual limit of 3 thousand euros, for stabilization of fixed-term contracts and permanent hiring.
