Journalist Ina Mikkola, 32, has acquired her first home. He announced his acquisition on social media in February. She got an apartment together with her long-term boyfriend.

The renovation of the apartment located in Helsinki’s Punavuori district has kept Mikkola busy. He tells Iltalehti that the atmosphere was not very high at the beginning of the renovation.

– I have to say that at first I regretted it a bit, because it started to be renovated. I thought this is so tedious and heavy. It was a bit like having a nervous breakdown, says Mikkola at the opening of The Palm terrace bar.

However, the hard work has paid off.

– Now when you see that everything is finished and the apartment is so unique and beautiful, it feels good. I am proud that I have been able to get my own home and make it our nest. I feel really happy now, says Mikkola.

Now the couple has already moved into their new home. Mikkola says that what she likes about the apartment is, for example, the way it is bathed in light. As a fine detail, the woman also points out the 30s-inspired bathroom, where taking a bath feels downright luxurious.

Good teamwork

The couple has painted the walls and ceilings of the apartment themselves with the help of family and friends. The professionals, on the other hand, have been responsible for laying the floors and bathroom renovations.

– We have been a good team. When one has managed to rant, the other has taken the booth. We are very divided about who does what.

When Mikkola had acquired his own home and updated about it on Instagram, he wondered about the sensations caused by owning an apartment.

– But when I got the keys, it was hard to understand that now they are really there, and with them you can open the door, and enter the apartment, and you can live there, and be and do whatever you want. I just somehow don’t understand this situation, Mikkola wrote.
