Ukraine has lost control over Zmiyiny Island in the Black Sea, reported on Facebook State Border Service of the country.

“The infrastructure of Zmeiny Island was destroyed after shelling by naval artillery. In addition, communication with the military border guards has been lost <...>,” the ministry said.

Snake Island is part of the Kiliya district of the Odessa region. It became part of Ukraine in accordance with the Paris Agreement of 1947, after the transfer of Bessarabia to the Soviet Union.
