In this country they named a street after Zoetermeer

Always nice when you come across something from Zoetermeer in another city or even abroad. Did you know that there is a Zoetermeerstraat with European neighbours? Read on quick!

The Zoetermeerstraße can be found in the German municipality Hamm/Bockum-Hövel, which can be found in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Die Zoetermeerstraat has existed there since 1978, we read in the democratic-socialist daily newspaper The Free People.

Fat friends

At the time, the German municipal council chose this street name because of friendly relations between them and Zoetermeer. They were created after both municipalities participated in the game ‘Game without borders’ in France in 1971. In 1978 this was reason enough to name a new street in Bockum-Hövel after our city, we read in the article of 10 October 1978.
