In the third episode of the Special Forces, the candidates face hardships both mentally and physically. There will be a violent fist fighting task and an exhausting running task in the sand pit.

The day begins with a task where teams, led by a team leader, have to bear to block the race.

Sami Jauhojärvi take on the role of leader, though Amanda Harkimo serves as a team leader. He will later be punished for his actions.

The former top skier tells Iltalehti that he does not regret “jumping on the toes” of the group leader.

– I wouldn’t have won that team competition without my brain. It was my idea to put those thongs through the log, which made it much more balanced and easier to carry, Jauhojärvi says.

“I’ve never hit another person”

Immediately after the log-carrying task, the candidates are put into combat training.

The first thing to put in a fist is a MEP Henna Virkkunen and Miss Finland Viivi Altonen. Virkkunen finds the task particularly difficult.

– I’ve never hit another person. I do not accept any violence, Virkkunen says in the episode.

Surrender to Special Forces, however, would mean a trip home.

– If you don’t hit, you’ll go home. You hit as hard as the sun gets out of hand, trainer Jan Knutti says to Virkkusen.

Altonen tells Iltalehti that he followed the original British version of the series, so he was able to prepare for that task.

– I had practiced it a little in advance. Mainly what it feels like to receive shocks. I had my own personal trainer with whom I did a little sparring and practiced to have that guts and be able to take the blows.

He also practiced batting with his personal trainer. His tactic was to attack first in order to get fewer blows to himself.

Altonen says that he did most of the mental preparation when he enrolled in the program.

– I still do not accept violence at all. Yes, it went a little extreme. Especially now afterwards after seeing the episode. It looks pretty barren when it gets blows towards your face and hits another.

For Jauhojärvi, the fist fight ended in squabbling. He played an ex-badminton player Ville Långia against.

– Yes, you noticed that Lång is right-handed when the right hook came from there, Jauhojärvi says.

Despite what happened, he felt the situation was quite safe.

– The head was protected, the gloves were in his hand and there were mouthguards. It was a sport, even though it was harnessed in a way that was real.

The “motivational montage” made some vomit

At the end of the third day, the candidates are still being tested in a “motivational breakdown” located in a sand mine. Uphill and downhill are allowed on a soft sand hill.

The task gets Harkimo and Sauli Koskisen vomit. The harshest Lake Jauhojärvi will be given an extra challenge, and he will get his backpack back.

Jauhojärvi will also be punished for “stabbing” in a log-carrying position, which is why he will later get Harkimo in his position.

However, he says he has experienced the situation fairly because of his background as an endurance athlete.

– It was also quite good to teach me the humility of putting a backpack and Amanda on my back, Jauhojärvi says.

A recent episode of the special forces will appear on the Ruutu service on Monday mornings. Now the first three episodes are out.
